Cordoba’s Jesuit History

Pope Francis is not only the first American to become the head of the Catholic church he is also the first Jesuit. An order that has long had a thorny relationship with its leaders. There were no successful instances of harmonious coexistence with indigenous people during Europe’s colonisation of the Americas, though during this tour of Cordoba’s Jesuit history you’ll see how the Jesuits came about as close as anyone with their work with the indigenous people. Their churches and schools are well preserved in Cordoba and during the trip you’ll see how they achieved a glimmer of light in what, in the main, was a very dark period of history.
